Step-by-step fluency folderSteps for charting fluency:
1. Make a goal with your child about: - how many words they'll read in a minute - what EARS skill they will focus on 2. 1-minute timed reading of fluency passage. 3. Mark any words that are skipped or misread. 4. Calculate the total number of words read CORRECTLY (Total number of words read minus total number of mistakes) 5. Write or graph correct words read during 1-mintue read. 6. Have child reread any words misread or skipped either individually or reread the entire sentence in where the misread word was located in. 7. Last read: After the 1-minute read, have your child read the entire passage. Then, ask them questions about the passage. Extra fluency folder charts and directions in pdf below
